Biography:

Susan van der Meulen is daughter of noted architect John H. van der Meulen (1913-1994), who with partner Ralph Rapson designed the U.S. Embassies in Stockholm and Copenhagen (1954-6), the Gidwitz house of 1947, and other notable projects. Susan’s mother, Norma, has been a jewelry designer at the Oriental Institute since 1978. Her brother, Peter, is an architect at Zimmer, Gunsul, Frasca (OR). Her sister Anne is a jeweler-gemologist.
