The Jackson at Woodlawn Park
Chicago, Illinois 60637, United States
The Jackson at Woodlawn Park is a 67-unit affordable housing development for low-income families and individuals. It is the first phase of development that replaces the existing Grove Parc Plaza. This existing Section 8 complex includes 504 units to be demolished in phases and rebuilt as a mixed-income community over a 4-year construction period.
The Jackson is located at the terminus of the CTA Green Line and is a substantial, transit-oriented development. It consists of two LEED Silver walk-up buildings with extensive green building measures that create a super-insulated and air-tight building envelope. Outside, storm water is stored on site through strategic planter locations and permeable pavers and surfaces, and solar panels heat the buildings’ domestic hot water supply.
Residents are offered private yards for three bedroom family units, communal meeting spaces, playground, picnic area, and green screens.
